Patricia Gitto
It was clear from an early age that music was in Patricia Gitto’s soul. She was always listening to music and singing around the house. One day she discovered a Solfege book that had a instrument on the cover. Her mother told her it was a cello. After hearing how beautiful the cello sounded, she decided she would learn to play.
Patricia grew up in Panama surrounded by music, from classical to the many and varied Latin American genres. She studied journalism and graduated with honors while playing with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Panamá. By the time she was 21, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to form a youth orchestra - the Orquesta Juvenil Istmeña. Inspired by her father, who followed his dream of becoming an electrical engineer all the way to university in Brazil, Patricia decided to move to the United States at age 25 to pursue a career as a musician.
While she loves to perform both as a cellist and as lead vocalist with her band Tropical Mood, she soon discovered that her true passion was teaching. Patricia is a trained Suzuki Method instructor and teaches cello to children of all ages. She is currently working to earn a Certificate of Achievement, the first step in the process of learning to train other Suzuki Method instructors.
